So its been a while since I posted....ya...
I've still been coming up with new outfit ideas but I have not had the budget for new clothes.

I'm happy that the summer is just about over.  I'm waiting for a nice cool day to get my "fall" cleaning done.  I have so many things to organize, I just haven't had the time or energy.

This weekend is my brother-in-law's wedding.  We are super excited and we will be leaving tomorrow afternoon to head down to Connecticut to celebrate.  I will get some pictures of me in my bridesmaid dress and post.  It is a beautiful dress and I'm excited to wear it.

Next month, the Hubs and I are planning a day trip to North Conway, take in the sites, fresh air and a  little bit of shopping.  I'm saving my pennies for a mini shopping spree.  Its been so long.

Since we got married, we have tighten our budget and put our money toward house projects and savings.  Sometimes, its difficult to not be able to buy a few things that you want and it is discouraging but I try to keep an open mind and stay focus.  "Things" aren't everything.

What I found in June

Here is my new dress for June.  Usually, Forever 21 is a hit or miss for me.
I was, however, able to find this dress that actually fit me perfectly.  $20.00 how can you go wrong??

I plan on wearing this to my future sister-in-law's bachlorette party next month.
I would love to wear it to work but it is far too short.  I think it will work well for a bachlorette party.

What do you think?

New Items for March

Hello!!!
We've had some crazy weather here in the Northeast. Normally, Spring doesn't get here until Mayish but it was Spring last week. I decided to do a little shopping because I needed to add to my Spring/Summer wardrobe. I work about a block away from Forever 21. (which is a good thing I think???)
I have a love/hate relationship with that store. Some items just fit weird. I can't use any other word to describe it. It just does. I go into Forever 21 about 1-2 times per month. Sometimes, I find things and sometimes I walk out empty handed.
Last week, I picked up these two items that I am psyched about.

(All items can be found on the store website: Forever21 )
I purchased this blazer/jacket for $11.99 off the sale rack!! How awesome is it?
The next item I got was a navy polka-dot skirt. It was about $15. It fit great and it wasn't too short (No one wants to see my 30ish-year old thighs!)
Since that weather has gone back to freezing cold winter, I won't be able to wear the skirt anytime soon. It will give me to time to figure out what I can wear with it.

So far for the month of March, I've spent under $28.00 on clothes.

Most of my money this month has gone to my credit card. I have a new puppy and there were a lot of puppy expenses that had to be paid for. All the vet visits are pretty much done. Thank goodness! It was really starting to hurt the wallet. Here is a picture of the little guy.

Isn't he cute?

Ironing-Making the most of your wardrobe.

I'm guilty of being lazy about ironing clothes. I've missed out on great outfits because I had a shirt or pants that needed ironing and I didn't feel like doing it.
I've been better about it. I think if you take a little time to iron your clothes once a week, you have a better selection on what you can wear.
I came across this video and I thought to myself, anything can look good if you just take care of it (and don't burn it either)
Watch the magic this man can do with a shirt.

First, I'm going to apologize for the horrible photo. I'm new at this. About the outfit: I purchased this animal print skirt from Marshalls over 3 months ago. This is the first time I'm wearing it. I wasn't sure what to wear on top of it. The skirt also came with the brown belt. (BONUS) I finally took sometime last weekend and came up with an outfit. The skirt would have gone great with a red top, but I didn't have one in my wardrobe. (Yes, I know, I should have a red top) What I was able to do was pull this purple shirt from New York & Co. that is old (2 or 3 years maybe) When you don't have red, do purple! The heels are Anne Klein via Macy's. I picked these up in January with a giftcard I received for my birthday.

I got a lot of compliments on the my outfit at work. One person said they would have never thought to put that top with that skirt. That is what I am looking for!!!

Well Hello!

Welcome to The Realistic Style! I wanted to start by telling everyone a little bit about myself. I'm a 30 something, recently married and a brand new homeowner. The hubs and I are working on a major plan so we can be finacially stable in our retirement years. That is a long time from now.
In my 20's, I had the time of my life. I spent my money on two things: Clothes and Food. The expression "all he has are the clothes on his back" pretty much discribed me to a T. Things now are different. As much as I would love to have a weekly retail therapy session, my sessions are now being held at the grocery store, Home Depot and any other home improvement store.
I want to challenge myself to make the most of my wardrobe on my tiny budget. I want to show others that its possible without having a major shopping spree every few weeks. I wanted this to be realistic for other adults who are saving for the future. I am excited to see how it all works out!!
